Queens Of The South

Hi everyone,

This is my new project and I’m so excited you’re here to join this journey. I am currently on the search for 20 beautiful and fabulous drag queens from and living in the south. My new “Queens Of The South” serious is now in progress and I’m in need of your help. The goal is to interview and photograph 20 queens and submit to local, national, and global museums to exhibit the beautiful drag culture- specifically from the eyes of a southerner. The South is RICH in homophobia, transphobia, and racism yet also RICH in LBGTQIA + & black excellence and art so I want to showcase the two at once in a light that’s never been seen before. Participants

5 Step Process

1. Sign a contact so this project is protected for the uses stated. (YOU MAY USE THE IMAGES FOR YOUR OWN USE AS WELL)

2. Fill out a questionnaire (Recieve your $25 payment)

3. Professional Photoshoot of you in your drag

4. Funding + Grants (This process will take the longest)

5. Museum, gallery, and exhibition applications (pitching)

FAQ

Will I get paid?

Currently this project is completely self funded by Mahala Preudhomme, the photographer of Hala At Me Photography. Unfortunately this opportunity is UNPAID for the time being until I can properly get funding but I will send a $25 payment to each of you queens for the time being.

Will I get paid in the future?

Possibly, maybe, IDK. The goal is to get this exhibition featured in museums and score grants in the meantime. If and when a grant or funding comes in I will announce and pay the queens who have participated in this project. I truly believe in this project and believe I can get funding but it’s not a promise.

What do I need from you?

Before I can start photographing you I will need you to fill out the questionnaire and contract. After I thoroughly read through your answers I will contact you to start the photography for this project.

Why should I participate?

This project is extremely important to me as is your work as a queen. The south and the world needs to bring more awareness to drag queens + drag culture. Let’s make a difference together.

Do I have to answer every question on the questionnaire?

No, absolutely not. Only answer what you’re comfortable answering

Clarification on the contract, I’m confused?

This contract is simply to protect the art so I can use it for the reasons stated. The museums and galleries will require these as well. Especially for funding. This protects the project and nothing else. YOU MAY ALSO USE THE IMAGES FOR WHATEVER YOU PLEASE.
